Kenya Reading Organisation Rules and Regulations
- A member is required to register by submitting a fully completed registration form provided by the welfare.
- Every member will be required to submit the names of their living parents, siblings, spouses, and children, including those who are legally adopted.
- Registration is by individuals and not family members.
- Members are required to contribute the agreed amount, which will be £20 pounds contribution per bereavement for each named person, i.e. spouse, children, including those officially adopted, siblings and parents. Please note the policy does not include stepparents, step and paternal siblings and all in-laws. In the unfortunate demise of a member, the contribution will be £50 paid to the deceased appointee (next of kin) and £20 to any other claimant, if any, who has named the deceased as either the spouse, child (including officially adopted child), sibling or parent.
- These funds must be deposited in the welfare account within three days of the bereavement advertisement and upon production of proof of death.
- A member who fails to contribute the agreed funds within three days of a bereavement will be removed from the welfare group.
- A proof of death will be required which can be in the form of official death announcement, a confirmation call to the family etc.
- All monies contributed to the Kenyan Reading Organisation account will be transferred to the bereaved member on the fourth day of the death announcement to facilitate the funeral process.
- If there is any fraudulent claim, this will be investigated by a welfare committee and acted upon through the existing legal means to recover the funds and return them to the welfare account.
- There will be a yearly non-refundable subscription of £10 for every member due within 3 days from the 1st day of June each year; failure to which a member shall be removed from the group.
- This document will be regularly reviewed for the benefit of all members.
- Members will only start to benefit from the welfare after 90 days of registration. Members who may suffer accidental or sudden death are exempted from the 90-day cooling-off period and will be automatic beneficiaries.
- A member of the group can be removed either due to: –
i) non-payment of yearly subscriptions and bereavement agreed contributions within the agreed timeframe,
ii) Not referencing their bank payment to their KRO UID and completing self-validation form.
14. The KRO member claiming the benefit upon death notification will pay £150 for admin costs to facilitate and analyse the funds contributed. This amount will be offset from the total amount contributed.
