Kenya Reading Organisation Rules and Regulations
- Members are required to register by submitting fully filled forms of registration provided by the welfare.
- Every member will be required to submit names of living parents, siblings, spouses and children including legally adopted.
- Registration is by individuals and not family members.
- Members are required to contribute the agreed amount which will be £20 pounds contribution per bereavement for each beneficiary i.e spouse, children including those officially adopted , siblings and parents. Please note the policy does not include step parents, step siblings and all in laws but in the unfortunate demise of a member residing in UK contribution will be £50.
- These funds must be deposited in the welfare account within three days of the bereavement advertisement upon production of proof of death.
- A member who fails to contribute the agreed funds within three days of a bereavement will be removed from the welfare group.
- A proof of death will be required which can be in the form of official death announcement, a confirmation call to the family etc.
- All monies contributed in the Kenyan Reading Organisation account will be transferred to the bereaved member on the fourth day of the death announcement to facilitate the funeral process.
- If there is any fraudulent claim this will be investigated by a welfare committed and acted upon through the existing legal means to recover the funds and return them to the welfare account.
- There will be a yearly non- refundable subscription of £10 for every member due within 3 days from the 1st day of June each year failure to which a member shall be removed from the group.
- This document will be regularly reviewed for the benefit of all members.
- Members will only start to benefit from the welfare after 90 days of registration.
- KRO management reserves the right of admission to the group.

How can I join the KRO welfare?
You can join the Welfare when it’s open to new members. You must be a Kenyan Citizen residing in Reading UK and 18 yrs of age.
How much is the Contribution?
Registration is £10 plus yearly subscription of £10 due within 3 days from the 1st day of June every year.
Members are also required to contribute £20 pounds per bereavement for each beneficiary i.e. spouse, children including those officially adopted, siblings and parents. This does not include step parents, step siblings and all in laws but in the unfortunate demise of a member residing in UK contribution is £50.
If 3 or 4 brothers or sisters lose their loved ones, will they be given equal contributions?
Yes if 3 or 4 siblings lose their loved ones, they will get equal contributions because we all registered as individuals and not as families.
If I have lost a loved one that I am claiming for, am I obliged to make a contribution as well?
Contributions to bereavements apply to all members including those that are making the claim unless the main applicant is the one who has died.
Why is there a subscription membership fee of £10?
This is to cater for admin costs associated with running the organisation. Full accounts are prepared at the end of every financial year and presented at the AGM.
Can I cancel my KRO membership anytime?
Membership is voluntary and you can cancel it anytime by notifying the Secretary at: kenyareadingorganisation@outlook.com
Do those who arrive in UK have to wait until the registration is opened again for them to join the welfare group?
No. Those arriving in UK and are Reading residents do not need to wait for the registration to be opened. They will be automatically allowed to register to the welfare upon arrival by notifying the secretary through kenyareadingorganisation@outlook.com
Can I add a new beneficiary to my form?
Not at all. Only if you have a new born baby or legally adopted child. A copy of the birth certificate or adoption certificate must be electronically issued to the secretary as evidence through: kenyareadingorganisation@outlook.com
Since I may not always have funds available to contribute when member looses their loved ones, can I deposit a lump sum amount to KRO account to be deducted when a death occurs?
No, KRO does not wish to keep members money in its account and any contributions made are deposited to the beneficiary on the 4th day.
